There are various ways to participate with the Los Angeles Catholic Worker: some people join us on Wednesday evenings for liturgy and potluck dinner, many volunteer for a day at our soup kitchen, some join with us for our vigils, other people decide to spend a week or two living with us, and yet others decide to participate in our Summer Internship Program. In 2004, 2005 and 2009 some of our soup kitchen volunteers shared their experiences with us, which we printed in our newspaper, the Catholic Agitator.

hi! i sent a note yesterday 6-14-13 and forgot one thing to ask. I remember that when the new cathedral was being built i was online daily then and a regular reader of the la times.if i remember correctly, some worker folks were protesting there alot and getting arrested.is it expected,if part of the team,to get arrested at various protests? the reason i ask is that i’ve never been to jail, and at this late stage,i don’t think i care to begin.thank you, june selman p.o box 132,fairview,oregon 97024 and 503-887-3558

    Greetings in Christ’s love

I am by profession a social worker with the County. I have frequently worked w/ clients w/ special needs in central LA and have enjoyed the experience. However, at present I am handicapped w/ inability to walk unaided or stand in a single spot. I am on med leave & would like to put my time to constructive use.

I am hoping to revitalise our food cabinet and expand to a used clothing closet at parish ( St Therese Church in Alhambra ) with my pastors permission. Is there a way that I can combined the two missions w/ my parish and your St Joseph House or there volunteer that I help w/ you?

    God Bless
    R Godwin Milner
