2017 LACW Sister House Retreat

Each year the 13 LACW Sister Houses get together for our annual retreat at La Casa de Maria Retreat Center in Montecito, near Santa Barbara. This year we gathered from September 15 – 17. There were 42 Catholic Workers from around the nation and Mexico who gathered to listen to presentations from this year’s facilitators, Tim Nafziger and Lucky Lynch, from SURJ Ventura (Show Up for Racial Justice), who dealt with white privilege and racial justice. We also had presentations on Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina (Devine Reading) by our own Julia Occhiogrosso (Las Vegas) and Johanna Berrigan (Philadelphia).

We had plenty of good food and assorted beverages and time to socialize, tell stories, sing, pray, relax, and enjoy the time away in the midst of beautiful surroundings and great weather. See photos HERE.

So many of our wonderful sisters and brothers from Philly to Los Angeles in 1 Place! These good souls gathered are like a blossom for us as their circle radiates the love of God as light for us as we all work to be mercy in the darkness of the American Empire!
